Sequere (La Entrega II)

It is an artistic project about time and memory that begins with a symbolic act: collecting water at the mouth of the Ebro and walking upstream to return it to the source of the Segre River, the main tributary of the Ebro. The artist’s gaze and their body moving through space and time become instruments to activate a poetic reading of the territory: experiences along the route and through the traversed space—with its geography, toponyms, cities, and mountains—serve as the trigger for an investigation into historical memory, human relations, and the territory.
A project by Marco Noris, conceived and carried out in collaboration with Celeste Reyna and produced with the collaboration of the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs / Diputació de Lleida.
The route
Marco Noris and Celeste Reyna carried out the Sequere journey between June 7 and July 20, 2022, walking 750 km in 44 days, crossing 5 provinces, 9 counties, 3 regions and 2 nations. On the map, the waypoints mark the location of the watercolors made with river water along the way.
“La Entrega” is a project conceived as a set of actions –acts– where walking, understood as an aesthetic and creative practice, is the primary motor. In Catalan and Spanish, the title of the project plays with the double meaning of the word “entrega” (“dedication” or “delivery”), which refers to the idea of consignment and at the same time to the idea of abnegation, a common characteristic of artistic practice and walking.
